Bird and Marine Mammal Marine Aerial Surveys Ongoing at Malin Head

APEM Ltd. have been appointed by Source Galileo to conduct bird and marine mammal aerial surveys at the Malin Head project site on the Malin Shelf in the Atlantic Ocean. The aerial surveys began in September 2021 and will continue over a two-year period, providing the necessary data required to inform the consenting process. Surveys are expected to be completed in August 2023.

Time-sensitive surveys play a critical part in the development of offshore wind farms, and Source Galileo understand the importance of ensuring all necessary data is available to the project team when its needed.

Data from the survey will be used to inform the offshore wind farm design and subsequent Environmental Impact Assessments related to offshore ornithology and marine mammals, ensuring effective environmental mitigations are put in place where required.
